Abstract

An adaptation of Italo Calvino’s short stories, ‘The Rain and the Leaves’ and ‘The Chase’ (16mm, 18 mins, broadcast on CNBC-TV 18, October 2007) Two stark visions of urban life come alive in this cinematic adaptation of Italo Calvino's short stories. In one, a dreamer from the countryside seeks a dream of escape and rejuvenation while elsewhere in an interminable traffic jam a man is trapped in a nightmare where nothing ever changes.
