Abstract

Hip osteoarthritis (OA) is a common painful and disabling condition. Clinical guidelines recommend weight loss as a core treatment for individuals with hip OA who are overweight or obese. However, in the UK, support for weight loss is often lacking. UK physical therapists already play an important role in providing advice and exercise programmes for individuals with hip OA, but little is known about how they address weight loss. Therefore, this study aimed to explore how UK-based physical therapists currently address weight loss among individuals with hip OA.
