Transitions in Context: Leaving Home, Independence and Adulthood
Holdsworth, Clare; Morgan, David
Abstract
This book addresses important aspects of youth transitions, by considering cross-cultural differences in leaving home experiences and the inter-relationships between transitions to adulthood, the achievement of independence and leaving home.
This book includes key features such as: placing the processes of leaving the parental home in a wider perspective, theoretically and in terms of policy concerns; a core concern with meanings and negotiations of youth transitions; and, the comparative emphasis throughout the text.
The texts draw on a broad range of disciplines including sociology, social policy, geography, youth studies and cultural studies.
It will be a key text for researchers, post-graduate students and final year undergraduates interested in issues related to the family, youth studies and comparative sociology.
