Abstract

Individuals with a personality disorder diagnosis experience high levels of stigma within society
generally and healthcare services specifically. This narrative review analyses the recent literature
exploring the stigma associated with personality disorders. The findings offer insights into the
ongoing contentious nature of personality disorder as a diagnosis, the issues around misdiagnosis
and the prevailing attitudes of healthcare professionals.
