Abstract

This study examined whether three-dimensional technology improves student engagement compared with traditional lectures using twodimensional graphics. Ninety-three students participated. Student attitudes towards three-dimensional sessions were examined by a five-point Likert scale questionnaire. Results indicated a strongly positive student experience with seventy-five percent of students feeling that the sessions improved their understanding of anatomy, and sixty-three percent reporting increased enjoyment of the course. These data support the use of a three-dimensional teaching environment as a useful tool for enhancing the teaching and learning of anatomy alongside traditional teaching methods.
