Telling the patients about diagnosis and outcome of schizophrenia: what, when and how?

Abstract

Informing patients about the diagnosis and outcome of a serious disorder is a key clinical skill and a basic ethical duty in a therapeutic encounter. How clinicians meet this challenge in schizophrenia, which is arguably one of the most serious mental disorder, is far from clear.
