Abstract

In this chapter you will learn about the interactions between economy and environment as well as how economists try to solve the puzzle of giving the right value to our environmental resources so that sustainable development can be achieved. In this context, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) agreed by United Nations in September 2015 (UN 2015) and discussed in detail in another chapter of this book will be used as framework.
The aim of the chapter is to give Business and Management staff and students an overview of how Economics concepts, approaches and tools can be applied by companies in their decision-making process to make it more sustainable and aligned with Principles of Responsible Management (Global Compact 2014).
